Making an Impact

  • While Dr. Tiffany Lowe Clayton was moderating a panel on improving health, NCOS Vice President Dr. Anne Kome (center) and member volunteers Nicole Hinson MD, Susannah Adegbenjo NP-C, Natalie Bovino NP-C, and Jonathon Ray PA-C provided BMI screenings and information on obesity certified providers in NC. The Black Health Matters Event was VERY successful and attended by over 800 persons!

Advocacy: Expand Coverage of Anti-obesity Medications and Obesity Management Services

  • North Carolina Obesity Society (NCOS) sent letter in support of Treat Reduce Obesity Act (TROA) to Congress in August 2024 and Senate in November 2024
  • NCOS sent letter advocating for coverage of anti-obesity medications to NC state health plan board

Education: For medical professionals and community members

  • Live inaugural event on December 14, 2024, at Whitewater Center Charlotte, NC was a terrific success! Lot's of great networking and information.
  • Nine speaker presentations and over 70 attendees.
  • 2025 Committees Started!
