Dr. Gibbs is a lifelong resident of Henderson County and is proud to be a community servant. Having been employed with Henderson County since 2008, she serves as Henderson County’s Wellness Clinic Director, Department Head and one of the Clinic’s nurse practitioners for the Wellness Department.
Dr. Gibbs received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Carolina University in 2000. She enjoyed her time as a Registered Nurse at Pardee Hospital, primarily in the Labor and Delivery Unit. She ventured to Jamaica to serve as a nurse in 2000. Dr. Gibbs earned her Master of Science in Nursing in 2005 from the esteemed Vanderbilt University with a focus on adult/internal medicine and forensics. She is Board certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center since 2005, she earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Western Carolina University in 2019 graduating with highest honors. She proudly served as a Henderson County Medical Examiner, through the Department of Health and Human Services, for fifteen years. She is a member of Theta Sigma Tau, an invitation-only honor society for nurses.
Dr. Gibbs serves on the Board of Directors for the Henderson County Rescue Squad and is the current Vice Chair. She humbly utilizes her 20+ years of experience in the medical field to improve access to healthcare in Henderson County. Dr. Gibbs is certified as a Mental Health First Aid Instructor. She also received her Certificate of Advanced Education in Obesity Medicine with Obesity Medicine Association and recently finished her specialty curriculum to receive her certification in crisis response for emergency service personnel through International Critical Incident Stress Foundation.
She brings her expertise in employer-provided healthcare, internal medicine, logistics, and her unmatched ability for interprofessional collaboration to serve the Henderson County Wellness Clinic. Astonishingly, Jamie still has time to dedicate herself to her daughter, large family, and devoted friends. Her love of crafting, party planning, and beautification make her a must-have at any festive event! Gardeners envy her and weeds fear her. Dr. Gibbs has really taken her favorite quote to heart: “Life’s a garden, dig it!.”
